History:

GVE’s technology is based on the collaborative research of Dr. Alexei Jirnov and Dr. Anatoli Borissov. When both scientists realized the potential of the technology at hand, they found interest from private investors and founded General Vortex Energy Inc., in 2002.

In 2003, GVE earned a $150,000 grant to build a 25-kW prototype engine containing the “Vortex Combustor”. Following the success of this prototype, the Office of Naval Research has continued funding further research and development. To date, GVE has received and is working under contracts valued over $5.3 million.
